Church Founding and Early Journey
On January 8, 2013, our church was founded. This day marked our very first church meeting, followed by the completion of legal and administrative requirements. Pastor shared that the name given to him was Lighthouse Refuge Christian Center, which we later changed to Lighthouse Refuge Christian Church.
In the beginning, we didn’t have a place for worship, but we knew we could still serve the community. We organized a coat drive, provided meals for children in several elementary schools, donated school supplies, supported a women’s shelter with essential items, and distributed blankets and toiletries to the homeless. More recently, we have invested in the YMCA to further support our young people.
While our works were good, we recognized the need for spiritual growth and study. God provided a solution through a young businessman who offered his “upper room” above his garage. This allowed us to start Bible Study on Tuesday evenings for many months. During this time, we completed the Discipleship Course and held a graduation ceremony for the students who finished the course.
However, we still needed a dedicated building for Worship Services. After miles of searching and many viewings, we had not found the right place, but we didn’t give up. Then, God led the Pastor to this building, which has been a true blessing. Today, you are here to help us glorify God’s goodness, praise Him for His love, and thank Him for the years He has allowed us to be here!
